Firestarter Spotlight - Rosalia Avila
Rosalia has worked at CBHA since April, 2014. She worked in Facilities for two years before transferring to the dental department as a Dental Assistant I.
She was nominated for this honor by Sidney Fuentes. “I have known Rosalia since she began in facilities,” Fuentes said. “Rosalia has been a wonderful addition to our team. She always has a smile on her face; she is very kind to others and is very approachable.” She said Rosalia knows how to bring up concerns in a pleasant manner and is able to help find solutions to issues in stressful conditions.
When asked about the favorite part of her job, Rosalia is quick to reply “our patients”! She finds it very rewarding to help people when they are in pain. “Children are sometimes very nervous about going to the dentist,” she said. “We try calm them down and help ease their fears.” She enjoys working with both children and adults and “loves working at CBHA”. She was very surprised and happy to have been chosen as “Firestarter of the Month”. She was working and her supervisor asked if she could talk to her for a minute. “I found all these people were waiting for me – Nieves, Dulcye, Sidney and many others.” She is grateful to her supervisor and coworkers for all the support they have given her.
The past couple of months have been challenging because of staffing issues at Wahluke Dental. Fuentes said Rosalia has taken on extra duties in many areas. She’s kept close watch on supplies, checked patients in, worked with two providers at a time on several occasions, helped out in hygiene and anywhere else where she might be needed. “Rosalia has remained positive and flexible with whatever a new day brings.”
Rosalia and her husband have four children, ages 15, 11, 4 as well as a baby boy. The older children enjoy sports. Her daughter runs track; her son plays soccer. “We all like the outdoors,” Rosalia said. “I take the kids to the park to play. They also like to go to the swimming pool.” As a family, they like to camp in the Seattle area. They also enjoy the river which is very close to their home. “I also like to read when I can find the time and attend church services.”
