2024 Kid’s Summer Olympics: A Summer of Fun and Learning!

The 2024 Kid’s Summer Olympics at CBHA was a spectacular success! Over the summer, we had the pleasure of hosting more than 85 kids from our community, engaging them in fun activities and educational sessions led by our incredible team of Health Educators.

Learning with Our Providers

Throughout the summer, our young Olympians had the opportunity to learn about a variety of important health topics:

Dr. Sonia Idrogo, DDS, shared valuable tips on keeping teeth healthy and preventing cavities through smart food choices and proper brushing techniques.

Dr. Jason Bleazard, OD, discussed the importance of maintaining healthy eyes by limiting screen time and encouraging kids to take breaks and enjoy outdoor activities.

Dr. Alaa Atfeh, MD, highlighted the importance of washing your hands to stay healthy and emphasized the need for regular well-child checkups to ensure a long, healthy life.

Sahira Ramirez, RD, taught kids about the benefits of eating healthy and listening to their hunger cues, helping them understand the importance of balanced nutrition.

Andres Lima, MSW guided the children on keeping their minds healthy by understanding and managing their emotions and promoting mental health.

Celebrating Achievements

On the final day of our Summer Olympics, each child was recognized for their participation with a certificate, a shiny medal, and a goody bag filled with treats and surprises! We also held a raffle, with exciting prizes like a catch and toss paddle game, beanbag toss, and a stepping stones activity.

We celebrated special achievements with the following certificates:

MVP: One boy and one girl who showed exceptional enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

Perfect Attendance: Recognizing those who showed dedication by attending every session.

Graduation: Celebrating those turning 13 next year and moving on to new adventures.

Participation: Honoring all who took part, with certificates for both boys and girls.

Most Kind: Acknowledging one boy and one girl for their kindness towards others.

Most Engaged: Applauding the boys and girls who actively participated in every session.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents who sent their kids to hang out with us every week. It was an unforgettable summer of fun, friendship, and learning. We had so much fun, and we can’t wait to do it all again next year!
