When did you start at CBHA?
I started at CBHA in September of 2021.
What is your job title and day-to-day responsibilities?
My job title is Staff Accountant and my day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring the accounts payable email and mail box to scan and enter all invoices into our system for approval and payment. I create payment batches at least once a week where I gather and pay all of the invoices that have been approved, the average is about 100-200 invoices per week! I also take care of creating payment batches for some of our larger vendors and make sure everything is being paid on time. When month end comes around (first 5 days of the month), I’m also assigned to several entries including Prepaid Expenses, Accrued Expenses, B&O Taxes, and our Lease True-up.
What is your favorite thing about working at CBHA?
My favorite thing about working at CBHA is the very positive and welcoming environment. You are greeted wherever you turn and you can find help whenever you need it. It truly is a great place to work.
How has CBHA helped you grow in your career?
I started at CBHA as a pharmacy assistant and was able to move up to the accounting department while still pursuing my Bachelor’s degree, thanks to my previous and current supervisors, Salvador and Aries, who have always been very supportive and flexible with my hours. I was also able to utilize CBHA’s educational reimbursement plan (Ed Bucks) which provided financial assistance for tuition!
What has been your favorite project at work so far?
My favorite project was having to transfer all of the Main St. property bills over to the new owner which included internet, electricity, gas, utilities, landscaping, security, elevator maintenance, etc. I then had to get cable and utility accounts set up for the new provider homes and felt very accomplished in the end. This process was something new to me and I was able to gain that knowledge which I can even apply to my personal life.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation, so I can travel anywhere I’d like!
How do you turn a bad day into a good one?
I always choose to have a positive mindset and attitude, I don’t let anything ruin my day J
What did you dream of becoming when you were a kid?
I wanted to be a veterinarian, I dressed up as one for career day in Kindergarten!
Where is your favorite place to travel?
Anywhere in Mexico!
If you could be any Disney Character which one would you be?
I love the movie “The Princess and the Frog,” so I would say princess Tiana, she worked hard towards her dream and never gave up, all while staying true to herself.
Anyone you would like to thank or final words?
I would like to thank Stephanie for nominating me, it’s such an honor to have received this Firestarter award! I love working for CBHA and being a part of the peer panel for interviews. I’d also like to thank my supervisor Aries and the Accounting team for all the support in getting me to where I am today and for helping me celebrate this achievement. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunities I’ve received over the years that have allowed me to expand my skills and advance in my career. I take pride in my work, knowing that I am part of an organization whose mission is to provide equal access to health care for all and I look forward to continuing to serve this community!
